Which Dubble Bubble Gumballs Fit Your Machine

Two sizes of gumball carry the Dubble Bubble name, and a machine takes only one of them. Size first, then count, then price.

What size are Dubble Bubble gumballs?

Two sizes. The vending case prints 24 mm, about 1 inch, and each gumball weighs 8 g. The refill cartons hold machine size gumballs of 2 g each.

The size on the pack is the thing to check. One-inch gumballs carry the size in a red circle on the vending case, and the cartons say Machine Size Refills on the front.

Can you put one-inch gumballs in a small home machine?

Not in a machine built for the small refills: a one-inch gumball is 4 times the weight of a machine size one, 8 g against 2 g.

Countertop toy machines take the small gumball. The refill cartons print For Home-Use Machines on the side for that reason.

The cartons help with the check. Each prints a drawing marked Actual Size of Gumball, which can be held against the chute of the machine.

How many gumballs come in each Dubble Bubble pack?

From about 42 in the three-bag packs to 850 in the vending case. The count is printed on some packs and worked out from the label on others.

Where the pack prints a count, that count stands. Where it prints only a weight and a serving size, the servings line of the label gives the number, with the word about in front.

Machines that carry the Dubble Bubble logo

Two tabletop arcade machines and a tray of mini dispensers carry the logo. All three come with gumballs in the box, and all three take the small size for refills.

Are gumballs safe for toddlers?

No. The CDC lists chewing gum among the foods that are choking hazards for young children, and a gumball is hard, round and about 1 inch across.

The toy rules draw a similar line. A ball that passes through a 1.75 inch hole counts as a small ball, and toys that contain one must carry a warning. The pinball machine here carries an age mark of 3 and up.

Avoid small, sticky, or hard foods that are difficult to chew and swallow.
